Brothers of the Desert x Icon City: Building Infrastructure for Black Gay Wellness in the Desert

🧠 The Vision


Founded to empower Black gay men and their allies in the Coachella Valley region, Brothers of the Desert (BOD) has grown into a pivotal community organization. Under the leadership of Board President Tim Vincent, the organization has expanded both in scope and impact — developing major events, research outreach, and wellness programming.


Since 2020, Icon City Entertainment has served as a key strategic partner, working closely with the BOD board and leadership to build the organization’s production, brand identity, digital infrastructure, and programmatic reach.


🎯 Partnership Objectives

  • Event Excellence: Produce best‑in‑class wellness summits, gala fundraisers, and community gatherings for Black gay men and allies.

  • Research & Outreach: Launch and sustain the Brothers Rising initiative to collect narrative data and build community knowledge.

  • Organizational Infrastructure: Strengthen digital presence (website, social media), develop strategic partnerships, and support board‑driven growth.

  • Talent & Content Strategy: Secure high‑profile speakers, influencers, and health leaders to heighten visibility and credibility.

  • Board Collaboration: Ensure alignment with Tim Vincent and the BOD board so that all production and media efforts reflect the organization’s mission and values.


🛠 Icon City’s Role & Deliverables


🎤 Event Production & Talent Activation

  • Four Annual Wellness Summits (2020‑present) led with A/V, livestreaming, event branding, and audience engagement.

  • Four Gala‑style Fundraisers executed with professional production, brand positioning, and donor‑facing content.

  • Through Icon City’s consulting/bookings:

    • Dr. David Malebranche

    • Bishop OC Allen

    • Dr. Stephaun “Elite” Wallace

    • Deion & Rome

    • Sampson McCormick

    • BJ Williams of Can I Be Vulnerable?(All booked through Icon City consulting or direct booking.)


🧪 Research & Outreach Initiative

  • Developed the Brothers Rising project: narrative capture, outreach methodology, branded content, and storytelling architecture supporting BOD’s mission.


🌐 Digital & Organizational Infrastructure

  • Managed website enhancements and maintenance in alignment with BOD board strategy.

  • Oversaw social media management and campaign support (especially in early years) to build brand awareness and community engagement.

  • Advised on strategic partnerships and facilitated organizational relationships with:

    • REACH LA

    • HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN)

    • Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce— all in close collaboration with Tim Vincent and the BOD board.

  • Every major deliverable — from event conception to content rollout — was developed in close consultation with Tim Vincent and the BOD board, ensuring mission fidelity, community alignment, and structural sustainability.

  • Eight major public events produced (4 wellness summits + 4 galas).

  • High‑profile talent secured that elevated BOD’s profile regionally and nationally.

  • Brothers Rising launched as a branded outreach research initiative, positioning BOD as thought‑leaders in Black gay men’s wellness.

  • Digital footprint strengthened with updated website and social presence aligning with board‑approved strategy.

  • Strategic partnerships built that expanded BOD’s ecosystem and credibility in health, advocacy, and business sectors.

  • Ongoing board‑led organizational growth supported by Icon City’s consulting and infrastructure work.
